Arsenal – Standard Liege
Arsenal hosts Standard Liege at the Emirates Stadium in a game from Group F of Europa League. The Gunners are chasing a second win in this group from two matches played, while Standard are also having a record of three points after the first round.
Last season Arsenal reached the final of Europa League and now Unai Emery’s team had a pretty great beginning as well. In the first round the English giants had a tough visit to Germany, where they had to play against Eintracht Frankfurt. We were all expecting a competitive game between these two sides, but it was not exactly the case, because Arsenal won it in a pretty convincing way – 3-0.
There was only one team on the pitch in Frankfurt and it was Arsenal. It was a great performance from the youngster Bakayo Saka, who scored a goal and assisted for the other two, scored by Joseph Willock and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
We expect that Unai Emery is going to put some young players on the pitch against Standard Liege. This game at the Emirates is a nice opportunity for testing new things and Emery knows it.
Just like Arsenal, Standard Liege also kicked off their Europa League campaign with three points, won at home. In the first round the Belgian side met Vitoria Guimaraes and achieved a 2-0 win. Both of the goals were scored in the second half of the game. Vitoria’s Florent Hanin scored himself an own goal, while Paul Jose M’Poku scored a second one for Standard.
We think that Arsenal won’t make a mistake against Standard Liege at the Emirates. Even if Unai Emery put some reserve and young players on the pitch in London, the Gunners will be favourites. We will be very surprised if Arsenal don’t win the first place in this group.
