Atalanta – Liverpool

Atalanta hosts Liverpool at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo in a match from Group D of the Champions League. We expect some goals here, so let’s take a look in these few paragraphs.

Atalanta and Liverpool are the two teams which lead this group at the moment. The English club is first with a perfect record of 6 points from two matches played. The Reds won both of their games in the tournament so far. At the same time Atalanta are second with 4 points from two games played.

Last week Atalanta had another home game in the Champions League. Gian Piero Gasperini’s boys hosted Ajax, but only won a point after a 2-2 draw in Bergamo. The Dutch side had a clear lead of two goals, but Atalanta equalised with a quick brace from the Colombian striker Daniel Zapata.

During the weekend Atalanta prepared for this match with a win. La Dea paid a visit to Crotone in the Serie A and achieved a 2-1 win.

Liverpool are perfect so far in the group – two wins from two games played. The Reds had somehow a slow start in the Premier League, but in the Champions League they are flawless so far.

Last week Jurgen Klopp’s team hosted debutants Midtjylland at the Anfield and scored an easy 2-0 win. The Reds didn’t score in the first half, but after the break Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah put the ball in the net for the six time European champions.

With Atalanta and Liverpool we have two teams which know how to score goals for fun. That’s what we expect to see on Tuesday. The English side won’t be the same without the injured Virgil van Dijk, but they don’t have any choice now – they must deal with his absence. Van Dijk is a key figure for Liverpool, but he won’t be playing again until next season.
