Inter Milan – Sampdoria

Inter Milan hosts Sampdoria at the Stadio San Siro in a match from the 25th week of the Serie A.

After their defeat against Lazio in the previous round, Inter Milan don’t have any room for mistakes here. At this moment the Nerazzurri are third in the Serie A standings with 54 points, but they are just three points behind the champion and current leader Juventus, so the title race is still open.

Against Lazio Inter Milan suffered their second defeat in the league. The team’s manager Antonio Conte was angry with his players, because at halftime Inter were ahead in the scoreline. The winter signing Ashley Young opened the score for the visitors in the 44th minute, but after the break Ciro Immobile and Sergei Milinkovic-Savic won the game for Lazio.

Antonio Conte is a multiple Serie A winner and he knows very well what his team needs in order to win the Scudetto for a first time since 2010. On Thursday Inter are facing Bulgarian side Ludogorets in Europa League, but the Serie A remains a much stronger priority.

Sampdoria’s situation in the league remains critical as the club continues its fight for survival. Right now Samp are 17th in the league with 23 points, being just one point above the relegation zone. The team’s manager Claudio Ranieri is facing now one of his biggest challenges in the recent years.

Last week Sampdoria suffered their 13th defeat for the season. Samp hosted Fiorentina at the Luigi Ferraris, but didn’t do much and conceded a devastating 1-5 loss. Manolo Gabbiadini scored the team’s only goal in the game, but when it happened Fiorentina were already five goals ahead.

Inter Milan will not be satisfied with anything, but the three points against Sampdoria on Sunday. The Nerazzurri will rest their stars on Thursday, so they could be ready for their next challenge in the Calcio.
