Liverpool – Burnley
The new champion Liverpool hosts Burnley at the Anfield in a fixture from the 35th week of the Premier League. For the Reds that’s just one more game until they finish the season and enjoy their enormous success.
Since Jurgen Klopp’s team suffered a pretty bad 0-4 defeat from the hands of Manchester City, Liverpool won two consecutive times against Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion. Of course, they already won the gold medals, so it’s not such of a big deal what kind of results they are recording now. But in reality it’d be a good achievement if they win 100 points this season. Right now they have 92 and four more games to go.
In their previous fixture Liverpool visited Brighton & Hove Albion at the American Express and went home with a 3-1 win. Mohamed Salah shined and scored twice for the Reds, while the captain Jordan Henderson scored one as well. In this match Klopp gave a rare chance to 19-years old defender Neco Williams to start the game.
Burnley will try to finish in the Top 10 in the remaining few rounds of the league. At this moment they are 9th with 49 points, being just one point behind the 8th Arsenal. For Sean Dyche and his boys that’s just another good season in which they showed their worth and qualities. At certain moments Burnley had some problems, but at overall they made a solid campaign.
In their last match Burnley recorded their 14th win for the season. Dyche’s team visited West Ham in London and took the win with a goal from Jay Rodriguez in the 38th minute. Charlie Taylor provided the assist.
On theory this game should be more important to Burnley than for Liverpool as they are fighting for a higher finish in the standings. But we don’t expect that the champions will take it easy here.
