Liverpool – Manchester United

The champion Liverpool faces the current leader Manchester United at the Anfield in a match from the 19th round of the Premier League. This should be an amazing game to watch. Let’s preview it.

The situation in the league right now is really intense. Manchester United are leaders in the standings with 36 points enjoying three poitns ahead of Liverpool. This means that even a draw at the Anfield would be enough for the Red Devils to stay on top. But are they going to play for a draw? We should see.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team is enjoying a run of three consecutive wins in the league. United topped the standings after a difficult, but very important 1-0 win during the visit to Burnley. The hero of the day was French international Paul Pogba who scored the winning goal in the second half.

Liverpool are aware that a win against Manchester United will send them back on top as they have better goal difference. The Reds are having some problems regarding their current shape though. Liverpool are without a win in their last three Premier League games. They even lost the last one against Southampton at the St. Mary’s. There’s no room for panic yet, but manager Jurgen Klopp must do something. His players need some confidence right now.

Liverpool got back on the right path against Aston Villa for the FA Cup last week. The Reds went home with a convincing 4-1 win at the Villa Park. We must mention something important, though – Villa played with their U-21 team because of many squad problems they have at the moment. It was an easy one for Klopp’s team.

That’s the preview for the biggest derby in English football between Liverpool and Manchester United on Sunday. This is a direct clash for the leadership in the league. Are United going to stay on top?
