Ukraine – England

Ukraine meets England at the Stadio Olimpico in a fixture from the 1/4-finals of Euro 2020. That’s the right moment to preview this game in the next few minutes. Let’s go!

Ukraine had to go through extra-time, but they still eliminated Sweden from the 1/8-finals of Euro 2020. The regular time in Glasgow ended with a 1-1 draw after Oleksandar Zinchenko scored for his team. The hero of the whole Ukrainian nation was the substitution Artem Dovbyk who scored a dramatic winning game in the 121th minute of the game. Dovbyk headed the ball home after an excellent cross from Zinchenko and put the Swedes on their knees. It was one of the greatest moments in the history of Ukrainian football indeed.

Now Ukraine’s manager Andriy Shevchenko must deal with the tiredness in his team. Playing 120 minutes after a long season is never easy, so the Ukrainians could have some problems here.

England are more and more dreaming of a first international triumph since 1966. The Three Lions celebrated in the 1/8-finals when they eliminated one of their biggest historic opponents Germany. These two teams faced each other at the Wembley and the Brits secured a 2-0 win. Raheem Sterling scored his third goal in the tournament while Harry Kane scored his first. This win sent the English fans in euphoric state of mind – winning against Germany is always a huge event.

The English manager Gareth Southgate changed his formation against the Mannschaft. He switched to 3-4-3 and it turned out to be a good idea. The return of Harry Maguire boosted the team for sure. Let’s see if Southgate is going to keep the same formation for the next game, too.

That’s the preview of the Euro 2020 1/4-finals game between Ukraine and England. Could the Ukrainians cause another upset? Or England will move a step closer to the big final?
