Valencia – Eibar

Valencia hosts Eibar at the Estadio Mestalla in a first game in La Liga since the arrival of the New Year. How about to spend some minutes to take a look at his clash, can we?

Valencia start 2020 from 8th place in La Liga, so they would be happy to make some improvement in this regard. Los Che are unbeaten in four consecutive games in the league, so this is a good position to start improving. They also made two draws in their last two games, so this is a fine moment to return on the winning column.

In the previous round Valencia had a tough visit to Real Valladolid which ended with a 1-1 draw. Albert Celades’ boys were pretty close to actually lose the game, but they managed to equalise in the 94th minute when Manu Vallejo managed to equalise after a pass from Ferran Torres. It was a little bit lucky for them, but they still managed to win a point.

Valencia’s manager Celades has some problems before this game. The Portuguese winger Goncalo Guedes is unavaliable with an injury while Cristiano Piccini is also injured.

Eibar could use some points right now. They are 16th in the standings with 19 points and five points ahead of the 18th Celta, but this gap could be reduced pretty quick. In their last two matches in the league Eibar won four points, which is an example of a fine performance from them.

Against Valencia Eibar will have to deal with the absence of the suspended Fabian Orellana, while Arbilla, Ramis and Sergio Alvarez are injured.

It’s not really surprising that we regard Valencia favourites here, but Eibar could be a dangerous team on their day. At Valencia we are noticing some improvement in terms of performance and confidence, so this could be a good moment for them to start the new year with a win.
